SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE TO MARK-UP FOREIGN OPERATIONS
APPROPRIATIONS FOLLOWING RECESS
Urge your Senator to support funding for the Baltics
With the Senate in recess this week, the Senate Foreign Operations Subcommittee
is expected to mark-up the legislation following its return on July 6.
Now is the time to urge subcommittee members to support funding for the
Baltics.
As part of this years International Affairs package, the Subcommittee
will be considering funding for the Baltic countries within the framework
of Foreign Military Funding (FMF), International Military Education Training
(IMET), Support for Eastern European Democracy (SEED) and also International
Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), which funds international criminal
justice programs in law enforcement training.
URGE SENATORS TO:
1) Support the request of $20.2 billion for the International Affairs
Budget
2) Support IMET funding of $650,000 per Baltic country
3) Support FMF funding, totaling $18.3 million for all three Baltic countries
4) Support the request of $465 million funding for SEED programs
5) Support INL funding, consisting of the $20 million request for anti-crime
programs, which includes assistance for the Baltics
