About Us: SoderWorld, a 6,ooo square foot facility, is owned and operated by the Soderholm family since 1997. Classes are held at SoderWorld*s beautiful A-frame log cabin off of Route 83. Philosophy: We are intent on providing an education that will prepare students to participate at a professional level in the area of Therapeutic massage, Yoga, and the healing arts. Emphasis is on the holistic approach of body, mind, and spirit connectedness. Our intention is also to facilitate students personal growth as holistic beings in a safe, beautiful, and caring environment. Purpose: We are committed to providing a program that will train competent professional practitioners in massage, yoga, and the healing arts. A conscious effort is made with respect to individual needs of participants academically and experientially, and to provide an environment that encourages gaining knowledge and experience. Admission Policy: Prior to admission into the course, applicants must meet the following: Admission will be considered regardless of race, ethnic origin, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. *Acceptance after interview process *Must be 18 years of Age *Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D *Must have experienced a professional massage/have Yoga experience (depending on which program applying for) *Must be physically able to perform a therapeutic massage/Yoga *Must be in good health, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Grading: On all written exams/quizzes and evaluations, an average of 75% must be maintained. Exams may be repeated to achieve the 75% rating-the concern is that you reach a level of knowledge. Absentee Make-Up: Students must makeup all missed classes with the teacher, teachers assistants, or fellow students. If you choose to make up class time with an instructor, you will be charged $35 per hour to make up missed class time. You must call SoderWorld and let someone know that you will not be attending. Refund Policy: Withdrawal from program must be given in writing to the director. The postmark of letter will determine the withdrawal date. The refund will be based on the tuition fee, excluding the non-refundable registration fee and any additional book fees. Full refund policy is on the back of the enrollment agreement. Refund Schedule: Academy of the Healing Arts will retain an amount computed prorated by days in class plus 10% of tuition and other instructional charges up to completion of 60% of the course of instruction. When a student has completed in excess of 60% of the course of instruction, the school will retain the application/registration fee and the entire tuition and other charges. Class Size: Classes will be limited to 14 students per group/ 1 teacher & 1 assistant Weather- inclement Classes will not be cancelled. Assignments will be given out the 1st class. Hands-on practice hours will have to be made up. Class Guidelines: Specific policies pertaining to absences, tardiness and rules of conduct will be distributed at the 1st class meeting Transcripts: A transcript and certificate will be issued at the students completion of all the requirements but if students need additional copies there is a $5 fee per copy. A copy of official transcripts or certificates will be available upon a formal written request to SoderWorld Academy of the Healing Arts. Placement Services: Academy of the Healing Arts does not offer placement services. Requests are called into the school and are passed on to qualified students and alumni, usually by location of request and practitioner. Graduation of the Academy does not guarantee employment at SoderWorld Healing Arts Center & Spa. Student membership: Being a student at SoderWorld not only gets you a 10% discount on full price services and retail products, but you also get access to our Garden of Eden, Labyrinth, workot facility, Lounge, Aquafloat Bed, & Meditation Sauna.
